A documentary account of how Kolva Compendium selects, researches, writes, reviews, and publishes its editorial archive on weight management habits.
Kolva Compendium — Editorial Process, London 2026
Kolva Compendium operates under the following editorial principles: articles on weight management habits are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.
These principles were established at the founding of the publication and have not been revised. They apply equally to all content published in the archive, regardless of author or topic. The principles are not aspirational; they describe the actual process followed for every piece published.
The publication does not hold itself out as a research institution or an authority on weight management. It is an editorial archive — a documentary record of coaching observations cross-referenced with published behavioural research. The distinction matters. Where research is cited, the citation is provided. Where an observation is drawn from coaching practice, it is identified as such.
From field note to published entry
Field Note or Research Prompt
Every article begins either as a field note from a coaching session or as a response to a pattern observed across multiple coaching participants. The initial note captures what was observed, when, and in what context. It is not yet an editorial piece — it is raw documentary material.
Research Cross-Reference
The field note is cross-referenced with published behavioural and nutritional research. The writer identifies whether the observed pattern is consistent with, absent from, or in tension with existing published literature. Sources are noted at this stage and included in the article where the editorial context warrants it.
First Draft and Framing
The writer composes a first draft. The editorial frame is always documentary: the article records what was observed, not what should be done. Prescriptive or imperative language is removed at this stage. The draft is written for clarity and precision rather than persuasion.
Second Editor Review
Every article is reviewed by a second editor before publication. The review checks factual accuracy, source reliability, the appropriate framing of claims (distinguishing observation from evidence), and consistency with the publication's editorial voice. The second editor may request revisions or additions before the piece is approved for publication.
Publication and Archive Entry
Once approved, the article is published to the Compendium archive with the publication date, author name, and article category recorded. The article is treated as a permanent record: it is not retrospectively edited without a correction note, and it is not removed from the archive without explanation.
Corrections Policy
If a reader or writer identifies an error in a published article, a correction note is appended to the article and disclosed at the top. Silent edits are not made. If the error materially affects the integrity of the article, the article is withdrawn from the archive pending revision, with an explanatory note in its place.
How research is selected and used
Content published by Kolva Compendium is selected based on published behavioural and nutritional research, and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. The publication prioritises peer-reviewed literature from established behavioural science, habit research, and nutritional journals. Where grey literature (coaching manuals, practitioner guides) is used, it is identified as such.
The Compendium does not conduct independent research. It does not commission studies or run controlled trials. Its role is to observe patterns within coaching practice and assess whether those patterns are consistent with available published research. This is an editorial function, not a research one.
Sources are cited inline within articles rather than in a bibliography at the end. This reflects the documentary editorial style of the publication: the source is relevant at the point of the claim it supports, and readers should not have to navigate separately to find it.
Where a claim cannot be supported by published research, it is presented as a coaching observation — a documented pattern noticed within the specific context of a coaching session — rather than as a general principle. The distinction is maintained consistently.
Research Verification Note
Content published by Kolva Compendium is selected based on published behavioural and nutritional research, and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. The Compendium does not make claims about the effectiveness of any habit, practice, or routine. It records what has been observed and noted in the existing literature.
What we disclose, and how
Commercial Independence
The publication does not accept advertising, sponsored content, affiliate arrangements, or product endorsements of any kind. All articles are written without commercial influence. This position is permanent and non-negotiable.
Conflict of Interest
Writers are required to disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter. To date, no conflicts of interest have been disclosed or exist among the editorial team.
Participant Privacy
Where coaching observations are drawn from sessions with individual participants, identifying information is removed or altered. No participant is quoted or described in a way that could identify them without their explicit written agreement.
